Our History

Our church began in the 1960s, when a group of believers began meeting under the direction of Coy Mason, who felt the calling of God to establish an Independent Baptist church. As a newly chartered church, Bible Baptist purchased the property where the current sanctuary sits, and constructed what is now the basement portion, where the new church met. 

In 1969, Melvin Jones accepted the pastorate, and the sanctuary portion of the building was constructed in 1972, under his leadership.

Raymond Moorefield was called to pastor Bible Baptist Church in 1978. During his ministry, the church expanded its property, purchasing and remodeling buildings that serve as the Conference Center and Fellowship Hall, as well as the pastor's offices and library. Under the ministry of Pastor Moorefield, the church expanded outreach into the community and established relationships with local businesses. He led visitation to the surrounding neighborhoods, and oversaw outreaches, especially during the Christmas season.

In August 2024, Pastor Moorefield retired after 46 faithful years at Bible Baptist, in addition to several years previously at pastorates in Michigan and North Carolina.

Our church is currently in the midst of pastoral transition, and is actively and prayerfully seeking the next shepherd of our local body of believers.
